After years of going to mod weekend events at seaside towns up and down the UK - towns with little to compliment the weekend proceedings - we thought it would be much more civilised to have an event in a bustling city full of restaurants and clothes and record shops. What better way to spend your spare time ?
As Manchester was already home to the world's longest running authentic 60s R&B club, slotting Friday night and Saturday afternoon events around the Saturday night's Hideaway gave us a winning formula.
Over the past ten years we have showcased live acts such as the legendary Tommy Hunt, The Gene Drayton Unit and Doktor Combover, while guest DJs have included such luminaries as Frank Popp, Paolo Hewitt, Eddie Piller, Paul Hallam and the Modchester institution that is Roger Banks. Why, we've even had a night on a canal cruiser.
Unbelievably our tenth weekend in July 2009 turned out to be our biggest and best to date. Now we've really given ourselves a headache - how do we better it ? ..... all we can promise is that we will give it a go in 2010 !!
